Allyson Pereira was a “good girl” who got involved with a very popular boy, who then broke up with her. He asked her for a nude photo with a promise to get back together. She made a terrible choice, but one many adults can understand, and she sent the photo. Her life was forever changed. She came to discuss her experiences with current 7th and 8th grade students during the school day, and the Pelham parent community in the evening.

Recipients are nominated for demonstrating values such as compassion, kindness, leadership, determination, perseverance, and integrity—sometimes overlooked qualities, but ones that make our community a better place. HOP Awards are nominated by the community, as well as faculty and staff in the Pelham Schools, and HOP Jr. Awards are determined by the PMS Principal and Vice Principal. The students were honored at a ceremony hosted by Pelham Together on December 8, 2023.

The Heart of Pelham award is given to students for exhibiting such traits as compassion, kindness, leadership, determination, perseverance, and integrity. Anyone in the community can nominate a middle school or high school student.
