Summer Interns Are Off And Running!

The 2023 Sumer Interns have completed their 3-day leadership training and are off to begin their assignments with mentors for the next three weeks. The interns spent last week working together, facilitated by our amazing facilitator, Staci Taustine, PT Youth Advocate, Danielle Marrero, and two graduates of the program, Akaylah Ng Saye (PMHS Class of ‘21) and Nora Tahbaz (PMHS Class of ‘19). Interns participated in various activities intended to tap into their individual personality strengths, develop their communication skills, find ways to best collaborate with others, as well as advocate for themselves. Through debriefing, interns were encouraged to connect what they learned about themselves to their work in their internship. On the final day, we welcomed our roughly 30 adults who will be mentors this summer through the program—young people and adults getting to know one another and setting themselves up to be successful in their placements.

Interns are placed in local or locally-connected positions all over Pelham and the surrounding areas and will work for a total of 30 hours over 3 weeks. These positions are paid, and they are guided throughout the process by our Youth Advocate and during weekly check-ins with the group. We could not offer this program without the partnership with so many businesses and organizations in town—thank you to all of our mentors!
