Pelham Together youth leaders are raising awareness of the dangers of distracted driving this fall through a poster campaign that encourages everyone to remember not to text while they drive. Called Disconnect to Drive, students created their own poster to display at the high school and around town at local businesses. On Tuesday, 11/26, at PMHS, PT Youth Leaders will be handing out facts about distracted driving to their peers along with some sweet treats!
Hoping to encourage conversation and raise awareness of the dangers of texting and driving, especially at a time when more people will be driving due to colder weather, posters will be displayed around town and at the high school through mid-December.
“Teens and adults need to think about where they put their phones while they drive to eliminate distractions,” said Laura Caruso, Executive Director of Pelham Together. “Too many preventable accidents take place to not make this a priority.” Teenagers and adults alike are guilty of the same habits, so the Pelham Together Youth Council wanted to send this message to the whole community, in support of the recent local effort to focus on pedestrian safety.
