Our first meeting of the school year is this Thursday (9/4)! You can join this great youth civic group if you answer ‘yes’ to the following questions:
Are you in high school?
Do you have an interest in youth mental health, civic engagement, or community connection?
Can you get to the Pelham Municipal Center on Thursday at 6:30pm?
That’s it! We’ll show you what to do from there!
More about Youth Council
Led by a group of passionate Pelham students, the Youth Council builds upon the mission of Pelham Together by bridging the gaps between Pelham youth and adults to create a unified community environment. In the past, Youth Council initiatives have prioritized teen mental health, substance abuse prevention, and fostering community, friendship, and mentorship. Their programming has included popular community events (such as Pelham Overnight, Project Happiness, and Tailgate Together), as well as civic-minded advocacy (for example, traveling to Albany to meet with state policymakers and being panelists at town halls).
The Youth Council invites any and all local youth to join in the decision-making that creates an inclusive environment for their peers. To get involved, download Slack to join the Youth Council channel, where you’ll be up to date on the many initiatives that the Council hosts. Additionally, through Slack, you can contact any of our Youth Council Leadership Members with any questions about attending our open-invitation monthly meetings at the Municipal Center or about specific events.
