Trisha Prabhu is a senior at Harvard University and the 21-year-old Founder & CEO of ReThink™, a patented, world-acclaimed app designed to stop cyberbullying. Borne out of Trisha’s own experience as the victim of cyberbullying as a middle school student, ReThink is currently used by 5.5 million students and 1500 schools across the world.
Trisha’s book, Rethink the Internet: How to Make the Digital World a Lot Less Sucky will be published by Philomel in May, 2022. It’s a first-of-its-kind, “by youth, for youth” exploration and guide to help a middle grade audience (and their parents, caregivers, and educators) navigate the digital world with confidence.
Trisha appeared in 2016 as a contestant on ABC’s Shark Tank and is the recipient of many awards. She was named a 2022 U.S. Rhodes Scholar, in 2021, was the youngest honoree named to Forbes's 30 Under 30 Social Impact list. Her TED and TEDx talks on cyberbullying have garnered millions of views worldwide.
Drawing from her own experience as well as her deep research, Trisha will examine the issue of cyberbullying/digital harassment of youth -- what it is, statistics, trends, etc.; her journey and work in the space; why Internet literacy is so important; and what adults/kids can do to tackle this important problem. Trisha will speak with each audience (7th & 8th grade students during the day in grade-wide assemblies and our community in the evening) about how to be safe, kind, and thoughtful online; how to adopt healthy digital practices; how to be responsible "digital citizens"; and how to leverage technology for social good/positive impact. All students who attend the community presentation will receive community service.
We are incredibly grateful for Trisha’s time spent with our community and look forward to welcoming her to Pelham.
