Second Annual Field Fest Went Off With a Bang

The second annual Field Fest went off with a bang on Saturday, May 19th at the Pelham Middle School Gym. Over 100 people came to experience the musical talent Pelham teens had to offer as well as to enjoy an array of treats such as walking tacos, popcorn, cotton candy and baked goods with Walter’s Hot Dog truck parked outside.

Audiences were gathered in anticipation for the performances of bands like Peak Foliage, Bandanas, Berlin Express, Afterburners and Radio Waves and others participated in games such as giant Jenga, Kan Jam, and other fun activities. Despite not occurring outside as initially planned due to rain, Field Fest was still a huge success as it attracted teens from all grade levels.

The music sets were seamlessly strung together by the highly talented Mark Sidgewick acting as master of ceremonies, making the music the centerpiece of this year’s Field Fest. For many of these student bands, it was their last high school performance as some of their members are seniors and headed off to college this summer.

Pelham LOFT—a group of Pelham teens who organize events and activities in town to increase the social options for their peers—was responsible for planning and hosting the event for the second year in a row, with plans for it to continue in the future.

The event also would not have been possible if it was not for the help of Pelham School Facilities staff for their help in setting and cleaning up (despite the rain), the Pelham Civic Association for their financial support to include a high-quality sound system, and Mark Sidgewick for his tireless efforts and encouragement of the students’ musical talents.

Pelham LOFT invites any teen interested in planning and hosting Field Fest and other teen events to join the Youth Leadership Council at pelhamloft.org or reach out to Danielle Marrero at dmarrero@pelhampact.org.

Be a part of bringing events to Pelham that other teens want to attend….friends, music, food, options.
