Pelham Together is collaborating with the Town of Pelham Recreation Department to bring important youth mental health training to Recreation staff. Camp Directors and Assistant Directors will be trained in Youth Mental Health First Aid hosted by Pelham Together.

Youth Mental Health First Aid is a program that introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to identify and help direct young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations.

Laura Caruso, Executive Director of Pelham Together, said “This course will support Rec Camp staff in their role as responsive caregivers to all campers. It will give them important tools and confidence to handle different potential situations—a real investment in establishing “trusted adults” in our community!”

This is a win-win for everyone—for Recreation and PT, both organizations that believe deeply in supporting Pelham kids, and for Pelham families and kids attending Rec camps this summer!
