Announcing Pelham Together
We have very exciting news to share: Pelham PACT and Pelham's Community Care Center (CCC) have joined forces to become one organization -- called Pelham Together -- with a mission of greater breadth and depth in an effort to ensure the very best for Pelham's youth and families. For twenty years, PACT has engaged our community to successfully reduce youth substance abuse. For the last five years, CCC has supported the mental health of Pelham's young people through direct referrals, and an extensive website highlighting resources and local service providers. Both organizations have brought informative programming and youth volunteer opportunities to Pelham. Because of the connected nature of our missions (the huge overlap between substance use and mental health and wellness) and to make the most of limited resources as PACT's ten-year federal grant expires, we've decided we're better together. We're now Pelham Together.
Pelham Together comes after significant research and planning, hours of extensive community focus groups, and critical insight from our coalition partners. This process reinforced what we already knew -- there is an incredibly strong sense of community and "connectedness" here in Pelham and a strong desire to put this to work to benefit our youth and families, especially those grappling with pressures and issues affecting adolescents.
Young people expressed the same list of concerns as adults -- substance abuse, peer pressure, stress, anxiety, and healthy relationships. They're interested in current trends in substance abuse, stress management, meaningful leadership opportunities, role models, and developing skills needed to navigate peer dynamics and future settings such as college and career.
Pelham Together will connect the community, inform families, and elevate our youth through data-driven programming and community-based opportunities and resources. [/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]
